What we did
Ask Google for a bricklayer in Welshpool and the first thing on the page is no longer a list of websites. It is an AI Overview: a written answer that names a few businesses and moves on. Most people read it and stop there. Whoever that answer names has effectively been recommended, and whoever it leaves out may as well not exist for that search.
For "bricklayer welshpool", the answer names KW Brickwork first, under the heading "Featured Bricklayers & Contractors in Welshpool", ahead of the other contractors it lists.
What it says, and where it got it
The interesting part is not the position, it is the content. Google did not write a generic blurb. It gives the lead and the qualification, Kris Williams with 28 years of experience and the NOCN Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Trowel Occupations. It gives the services, subcontract brickwork and blockwork for new-build housing, extensions, architectural features including arches and curved walls, and public-sector and commercial structures built to Welsh Building Regulations. It gives the contact method, call or WhatsApp, with the number.
Every one of those facts is lifted off the website. The qualifications page, the seven service pages and the WhatsApp-first contact route were all built deliberately, and they are what the AI answer is now reading back to anyone who asks. Publishing the NVQ with its awarding body and register number was done so a human could check the claim rather than take it on trust; it turns out a machine reads it the same way. That is the whole argument for building a site that states its credentials plainly instead of calling itself "quality assured".
kwbrickwork.co.uk is also cited in the sources panel beside the answer, alongside the directory listings that usually monopolise trade searches. Being the contractor's own site in that panel, rather than a profile on somebody else's platform, means the click goes to KW Brickwork and the enquiry is not shared with five competitors.

Captured on 19 October 2026. This is one search on one day, and it is worth being straight about what that is and is not. AI answers are generated fresh each time, they vary between people and devices, and Google changes how they are built without notice. We are not claiming a fixed position, because no such thing exists any more. What the capture shows is that the site is being read as the authority for that search, which is the thing the work was aimed at. It is also exactly why SEO is a monthly service rather than a one-off job.
No organic ranking is claimed here. The capture shows the AI Overview, which sits above the ordinary results, and we only publish what a screenshot evidences.
